-Points to Consider When Choosing a College Animation Program-

If you are interested in a career in Computer Animation or are looking to improve your animation skills through further education, lots of exemplary colleges abound. Computer animators are mostly holders of a degree in Computer Science, with a focus on Computer animation. But as with any other college programs, accredited programs offer the best choice, in terms of quality assurance and reputation. Animation certification can be obtained from University, design school, art and design school or technical institutions. For the best college animation program, consider the following factors;
Like earlier stated, accreditations are important when looking for the best colleges. Currently, there are over 300 certified Computer Animation schools and colleges. The US National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) is responsible for accrediting Animation schools and colleges/institutions. Check for local and national accreditations such as Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), Distance Education Training Council (DETC) and Council on Occupation Education (COE) Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Accreditations can be very crucial when looking for a job. Overall, the Department of Education also offers a list of reputable, accredited firms.Accreditation & Reputation
Mode of Study
The mode of study very much determines what college you choose. For instance, computer animation studies can be undertaken online, on campus or through blended formats. With a blended format, you can study the first half of the program on campus and complete the remaining half online. The mode of study has a direct bearing on curriculum. Some programs will last four years while others go for two years for degrees. However, there are one or two year programs that offer certificates in animation. Reputable and accredited institutions offer curriculum information on their website.
Program Core Areas
Different programs will offer somewhat slight variations of the Computer Animation course. For instance, there are areas within the field that you may be interested in. Identify these areas and find colleges that offer suitable programs. Typically, computer animators employ a mixture of 2D and 3D animation methods. These are bolstered by digital production techniques and character design methods. All these are geared at creating visual renditions of the animations with special effects. But other than these, Computer animators will also have skills in drawing, storyboarding, concept drawing and Photoshop.
Admission Requirements
It is also important that you identify the admission requirements for all the potential colleges of interest. This is chiefly to equip yourself with the necessary materials, such as resumes, cover letters or any other requirements as may be stipulated. College
Program Cost
The cost of an Animation degree or certificate varies from college to college. The more ivy a college is, the higher the cost. However, there are funding programs that can aid in offsetting the tuition bill. Consider colleges that meet your budgetary requirements when looking at a constrained budget.
